@blakeneka
Blake Neka has spent most of his life in and around the ocean. As a professional surfer, surfing has shaped his career, but he’s never wanted it to define the way he looks, dresses or creates.
Over the past few years, Blake has started branching further into fashion and has found his own niche in bringing the two worlds of fashion and surfing together. Rather than seeing them as separate parts of his life, he sees an opportunity to create something that sits naturally between both.
With a strong interest in fashion, Blake draws inspiration from the gritty, distinctive streetwear culture coming out of the UK, bringing that influence into his own style and content in Australia.
Now, he wants to push that crossover even further.
Surfing has traditionally existed within its own style and set of brands, particularly in the water, where boardshorts and surfwear can often feel familiar. Blake sees an opportunity to change that. He wants to work with fashion and streetwear brands that may have never considered the water as part of their world, experimenting with how their identity could translate into surfwear.
For Blake, it’s about bringing individuality back into the water and showing that being a surfer doesn’t mean fitting into the traditional surf mould.
The ocean is where he comes from. Fashion is where he’s heading. Bringing the two together is what makes it his own.
